A REDESIGN OF THE MARÍAS SUBMARINE

ART DIRECTION, GRAPHIC DESIGN, PACKAGING

The Marías’ 2024 album Submarine is one of my favorite albums from the year and I wanted to re-imagine the visual direction for the project. Using Bethany Vargas’ stunning photography, I wanted the art direction to feel steeped in the lush, layered production and reflect the album’s themes of heartbreak, isolation, and solitude.

Isolation can make us feel like we’re living outside of ourselves– foreign and unfamiliar to our own thoughts and identity. Something about it feels mechanical and robotic, just moving through routine without direction.
