Caroline Polachek Profile
Article Graphic

In 2019, Quinn Moreland profiled musician Caroline Polachek for her excellent debut album Pang (see here). To summarize, I developed a graphic that outlines some of the article.

I had seen a layout designed by Marko Cvijetic that really grabbed my attention and I wanted to recreate it. I broke down the visual components and grid structure as part of an exercise before adding in content from the article.

Polachek named a wide variety of influences for her album, but one of the most interesting sources was a 17th century engraving artist named Jacques Hurtu. As I looked more into Hurtu’s work, I started thinking about the possibilities of using an image for a background.
